Where to Lock Your Bike

• Pick a public area that is well-lit and highly visible
• Don’t put your bike a secluded area where thieves go unnoticed
• Don’t lock you bike in a way that blocks sidewalks or foot traffic
• Lock to a secure, anchored bike rack when available
• Check sign and other posts to make sure they are bolted down and the bike can’t be lifted over the top if there aren’t bike racks
• Avoid chainlink fences, wooden posts, and small trees and bushes that are easy targets
• Try different places- if you lock at the same place and times every day for work, thieves may learn how much time they have to work
