How to Lock Your Bike

  • Make sure that your bicycle frame is secured
  • Note that locking the rear wheel INSIDE of the frame securely and effectively locks both the frame and rear wheel even though the frame isn’t directly locked
  • Don’t forget to lock your wheels with a cable or try lockable quick releases available at any bike shop
  • Choose the back wheel if you can only lock one- it can be nearly twice as expensive as the front
  • Take your seatpost with you - or make sure that it’s bolted or locked to the frame
  • Detach any lights, computers, or valuable accessories, especially if you are leaving you bike for a while
