2008 Minneapolis Bicycle Film Festival July 9-12

Friday, June 27th, 2008

It’s that time again! Dero is proud to provide bike racks for one of our favorite annual events. This year’s Minneapolis film lineup has little bit of something for everyone. And as a new feature this year, the venue changes daily, so be sure to visit each film site. Riverview Theater and Macphail Center for Music will be excellent, but this will be a last chance to visit Theatre de la Jeune Lune before it closes its doors after 30 years. If you like bicycling and film, this event is not one to be missed. And as always, ride your bike there! Happy viewing! Also, check out the Pre-event Opening- Frame X Frame Photo Show & Group ride at One on One Bicycle Studio this weekend.

Rock and Roll do go together

 Rock the Garden Racks

Just an update and thanks to all of you who came out to enjoy Rock the Garden by “rolling” in on bike.  Dero was really excited to partner for this great opportunity and apparently so were many attendees. One photographer for the event said, “This is like Amsterdam!” We certainly haven’t seen this kind of participation for a non-cycling event in Minneapolis. But, there clearly is a demand for secure, temporary parking at major events. In addition to the nearly 500 spots shown here, there were easily more than a hundred bikes locked to permenant racks, fences, railings and anything else within close proximity to the Walker Art Center. Taken from the 7,500 total attendees, that would mean that nearly 10% of them arrived by bike! Look out Portland! Bike Parking at Rock the GardenFull Event Racks

Bike, Rock, and the Garden

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

If you were able to get tickets to this weekend’s Rock the Garden show presented by 89.3 The Current and The Walker Art Center, consider yourself lucky.  This will be one of the hottest summer music events. The line-up includes Bon Iver (see video above), Cloud Cult, The New Pornographers, and Andrew Bird. Moreover, it will be fantastic venue outside in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. In true green fasion, the event will be waste free thanks to partnership with Eureka Recycling.  The rest is up to you- ride your bike to Rock the Garden. Dero Bike Racks will be providing 500 temporary, secure bike parking spots for the event. What better way to celebrate summer in the Twin Cities than with great music and a bike ride?

Ride to Global Bike Day

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

In Minneapolis, there are many opportunities to share in the culture of bicycling. Summertime is especially packed with great events. One of our favorites is coming up this Sunday, June 22: Global Bike Day. The event is held at the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street.  This year, Global Bike Day will again celebrate bikes, art, music, culture and community. This is also a great opportunity to explore the new Midtown Freewheel Bike Center on the Midtown Greenway. Dero again will be providing secure, temporary bike parking for this event.
