Hello, Dubai!

The Dubai Metro, the most advanced driverless train system in the world, was officially opened today by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. And Dero was there!  Dero, together with local partner Bund Contracting LLC, are proud to be supplying and installing bike racks at all Dubai Metro Stations.  The Dubai Rack™ was designed and manufactured by Dero specifically to meet the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) specifications for the Dubai Metro.  This elegant and optimally functional design will provide secure parking spaces for 6,000 bicycles when all Metro stations are opened and installations are completed.

  1. Congratulations!
When I was in Dubai last winter I was sad to see no bikers at all, maybe other than in the Deira region of Dubai. The lack of bikers – and pedestrians – was a strikingly cold feature of the city.
Now, with a lot of construction completions and your bike rack addition encouragement, this will hopefully change rapidly and for good.

I hope you get many more commissions from Dubai as their awareness and demand for bike storage keeps growing!

    Best wishes,

  2. Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, we are planning on adding this patent-pending design to our regular portfolio. Everyone seems to love the look, and functionally, it can’t be beat!

  3. That is cool. On 10th September Amy reached the office using Metro, she plans to have a Bike now… She starts from Rasheieh Station where we fixed the first sets of bike racks, was a memorable night Hans. you , Dr., Saeed , Ala and myself all we were happy to see the first Rack was in place. Keep going and good luck.

  4. Great to hear the RTA is going ahead with racks at all the stations. Do you have a time frame when they will be installed at Financial Center station? I ride to work every day, but it’s nice to take a break and ride just to the metro sometimes.

I just saw a few today ‘sort of’ near the Bujuman (Khalid Bin Al Waleed) station. Will you be installing more closer to the actual station? Plenty of space for them near the entrance!

Any idea if the RTA is planning on installing racks at non-station locations?
