Meet our Outside Reps: Greg Heining (Los Angeles, CA)

At Dero we pride ourselves at knowing bicycle parking, inside and out. A large part of that is hiring passionate people who ride bikes in their daily lives and understand the importance of secure bicycle storage. Throughout 2018 we want to showcase our regional experts so you can get to know the person who is designing that awesome bike room for you.

How long have you been with Dero?

Winter 2014

What regions do you serve?

I’m based in Los Angeles and my territory covers the LA metro area.

What is your favorite local bike path to ride?

The Griffith Park Helipad

Do you have a favorite bicycle memory or story?

My first bike memory was being pulled behind my Dad’s bike in a trailer sitting next to my brother as we bounced along in the sunshine of the Katy Trail in rural Missouri. As I recall the trail is rocky with lots of leafy trees – a gorgeous afternoon ride along the Missouri River. I’d love to go back there someday (in the Spring). I’m a big advocate for using cycling to promote healthier living and protecting our planet, so I’m thrilled to serve as the LA County Bicycle Coalition’s Team Captain for Climate Ride 2018. Last year I raised nearly $7K in the fight against climate change and this year my goal is $10K! The past two years on Climate Ride were incredible – exploring redwood forests and California’s beatific coastlines with loads of new friends who’re all there supporting one another. It feels like summer camp for adults – each day you pack up your tent, grab some breakfast and just ride your bike. 10/10 – smiles for miles – would highly recommend you checkout a Climate Ride event in your area and/or helping me towards my goal: bitly.com/ClimateRideGreg

Why do you enjoy keeping people’s bicycles safe/working at Dero?

In college I had maybe four or five bikes stolen and each time, it felt like the worst day of my life. With our recent launch of Bike and PedRail line, it’s also rewarding to know I’m part of a company that’s actively creating solutions that improve the safety of all road users. The chance to help grow my city’s infrastructure making it safer for people and bikes – what could be better?
